Frequently Asked Questions

How long do support group sessions last?

Support groups range from 60-90 minutes depending on the group. The women's group meets every other week for 3 months, then member can decide if they'd like to continue in the group.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, support group members are not permitted to engage with one another outside of the group space. Anything you share in groups is confidential, with certain legal exceptions such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others or if you disclose the exploitation, sexual contact, or physical abuse of children. In those exceptions, the group facilitatory is mandated to report these to the appropriate authorities.

Will therapy sessions be online or in person?

Groups and yoga classes are currently only offered in person sessions. Monthly free meditations vary and may be in person or online (via zoom).

What type of yoga classes do you offer and what do I need to bring?

I teach a style of yoga called "hatha" known for its restorative elements. Classes are suitable for all levels of yoga practice, and are particularly friendly for beginners or intermediate yogis. You'll need to bring your own mat, supportive blocks/yoga straps if you need them, and a light yoga blanket.

What are your meditation classes like?

You will be asked to sit in a comfortable position as you are guided through mindful attention to your breath, your thoughts, and your senses. You may lead to practice guided imagery, loving kindness, body scan, etc. depending on the specific meditation class you attend. You may be asked to bring a blanket or a small cushion to sit on during the meditation. Individuals report feeling more calm, grounded, and relaxed after meditations.

What is your attendance policy?

Showing up on time and keeping your scheduled appointments shows respect for our time and the time of others. During a 3 month series of support groups, members are permitted to miss 2 group and only permitted to have 1 no-call no-show. Committing to groups means that you are committing to all sessions, so if you miss a group, you will be still be charged a fee equal to your sliding scale group rate for the season. You will also counted as absent if you arrive 10+ minutes late.
