What is therapy/counseling?
Therapy or counseling involves talking with a trained professional to address mental health issues, emotional difficulties, and life challenges.

How do I know if I need therapy?
Signs that you might benefit from therapy include persistent feelings of sadness or anxiety, difficulty managing stress, relationship problems, or experiencing traumatic events.
What should I expect during my first therapy session?
The first session usually involves discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, your personal history, and setting goals for treatment.

How long does a therapy session last?
Sessions are about 50 - 55 minutes long.
How long will I be in therapy?
Duration varies depending on the individual and their specific challenges. Some may benefit from a few sessions, while others might need longer-term therapy to address their concerns.
How often will I meet with my therapist?
We encourage clients to start out with weekly therapy sessions to help them build rapport and build skills with their therapist's support. After that, clients may choose schedule therapy every other week, once a month, or as needed.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential, with certain legal exceptions such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

Will therapy sessions be online or in person?
We gladly offer in person sessions and online sessions to best suit the various needs of our clients.

How do I know if a therapist is right for me?
It's important to feel comfortable and understood by your therapist and you can gauge this during initial sessions. Don't hesitate to switch if the fit isn't right. However, clients who share what they need are more likely to develop a strong rapport with their provider and feel satisfied with their treatment.
What do I do if I don't think that therapy is helping?
Discuss your concerns with your therapist. It might be necessary to adjust your treatment plan, try a different approach, incorporate other forms of treatment, or even find a new therapist.
What's the difference between a psychologist, psychiatrist, and therapist?
A therapist can be a psychologist, a social worker, or a counselor who provides talk therapy. A psychologist typically has a doctoral degree in psychology, while a social workers or counselor has a master's degree. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in the prescription of medication for mental health treatment.

What type of yoga classes do you offer and what do I need to bring?
We teach a style of yoga called "hatha" known for it's restorative elements. Our classes are suitable for all levels of yoga practice! We ask that you bring your own mat, supportive blocks/straps if you need them, and a light blanket.
What are your meditation classes like?
You will be asked to sit in a comfortable position as we guide you through mindful attention to your breath, your thoughts, and your senses. We may lead you to practice guided imagery, loving kindness, or body scan depending on the specific meditation class you attend. We ask that you bring a blanket or a small cushion to sit on during the meditation. Individuals report feeling more calm, grounded, and relaxed after meditations.
What is your attendance policy?
Showing up on time and keeping your scheduled appointments shows respect for our time and the time of other clients. We allow our clients to reschedule or change any appointment as long as you provide 24+ hours notice. However, appointments rescheduled or changed with less than 24hrs notice will result in a fee equal to that of your cancelled appointment, not reimbursable by insurance. We also consider appointment as missed if you arrive 10+ minutes late; we will work with you to reschedule, but note that this will also result in a cancelled appointment fee.
